Two Chiffchaffs from October 2009

Both were trapped at Hanko Bird observatory, south coast of Finland.

(1.) 16 October 2009. This bird (11394U) is slightly less olive and yellowish as an average Chiffchaffs migrating here. It had a normal call.

(2.) The same as previous

(3.) The same as previous. Especially the supercilium was quite pale, with quite little buff-toned yellowish colour. The wing length was 60,5mm and wing formula 6,5/0,5/0/0,5/3/6/8/9.

(4.) This individual, trapped 17 October 2009, (11909U) is clearly paler and less olive-yellow than normal abietinus. It should be of eastern origin. However, there are some olive stripes on the cap and mantle. Unfortunately, the bird refused to call. At the same time at the same general area there was one bird with tristis call, but it was a different-looking individual (looked like a very good tristis in the field).

(5.) The same as previous.

(6.) The same as previous. There are quite a lot of olive colour on the scapular area and the edges of upperwing-coverts are quite strongly olive. The wing length was 64mm and wing formula 7/0/0/0,5/3/6/8/10.
